Who we are
ClearPiq is a product comparison website based in the United Kingdom. We publish independently researched specification tables to help consumers make informed purchasing decisions. References to “ClearPiq”, “we”, “us”, or “our” in this policy refer to the ClearPiq website and its operators.
What data we collect
ClearPiq does not require you to create an account or log in. We do not collect your name, email address, or payment information unless you voluntarily contact us.
We collect the following data automatically when you visit the site:
- AnalyticsPage views, referral source, device type, approximate country, and session duration — collected via Google Analytics 4 (GA4). IP addresses are anonymised before storage.
- CookiesGA4 sets first-party cookies (_ga, _ga_*) to distinguish unique visitors across sessions. These expire after 13 months. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking pixels.
- Affiliate clicksWhen you click a "Check Best Price" link, our /go/ redirect handler logs the outbound click (product slug, destination, timestamp) for internal reporting. No personal data is recorded.
How we use your data
Analytics data is used solely to understand how visitors use the site — which comparison tables are popular, how people find us, and where we should focus content efforts. We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties for marketing purposes.
Third-party services
We use the following third-party services that may process data on our behalf:
- Google Analytics 4Web analytics. Data processed in the EU/US under Google's standard contractual clauses. You can opt out via the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
- Affiliate networksAWIN, PartnerStack, Impact, Skimlinks, ShareASale — these networks may set cookies when you click affiliate links. See our affiliate disclosure for full details.
Your rights
Under the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, you have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of any personal data we hold about you. As we collect very little personal data by default, requests typically relate to contact enquiries or newsletter subscriptions. To exercise any of these rights, please contact us.
Cookies
You can disable cookies in your browser settings at any time. Disabling analytics cookies does not affect your ability to use the site. We do not currently show a cookie consent banner as our cookie usage is limited to analytics cookies placed after page load, which fall within the legitimate interests basis under UK PECR guidance. We keep this under review.
Data retention
Google Analytics data is retained for 14 months (the minimum configurable period) before automatic deletion. Contact enquiries are retained for up to 2 years. Affiliate click logs are aggregated monthly and raw logs deleted after 90 days.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. Material changes will be noted on this page.
